UCAN Representative Committee
Each advising office and/or department considered to be an Active Affiliate of UCAN is encouraged to appoint a UCAN Representative for (1) calendar year. For leadership and financial purposes, the calendar year or term for a UCAN Representative will be September 1 through August 31. The onboarding process for new representatives will be provided during a formal retreat prior to the beginning of each term.

Responsibilities, Duties, and Expectations:
- Meet as needed with UCAN Chair and fellow UCAN Reps to discuss opportunities regarding professional development, recognition, and peer support among members of UCAN
- Serve as the primary contact between your office and UCAN Membership
- Support and promote state, regional, and national advising organizations such as NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising and the Texas Academic Advising Network (TEXAAN)
- Assess and archive all UCAN activities
UCAN Representative Position and Staff Performance Evaluation Goals:
As a UCAN Rep, responsibilities and duties within this role can fulfill S.M.A.R.T. goals outlined in your performance evaluation established by you and your supervisor. For those interested in serving as a Rep, speak with your supervisor or UCAN Chair to learn more about goals and outcomes associated with these positions.
Ex: My goal is to plan and facilitate a professional conference for the UNT advising community and external stakeholders with an interest in advising best practices. I will track my progress through my work and contributions with the UCAN Rep Planning committee and with general planning meetings throughout my term.
This goal will assist me in the application of large-scale event planning as it relates to professional development among my career field. I will complete this goal by May 15th, 2023.
