Texas Success Initiative (TSI)

The Texas Success Initiative, TSI, is a state law that requires all Texas public institutions to determine college readiness in reading, writing, and mathematics for all degree-seeking undergraduates, including incoming freshman and transfer students, for both on-campus and online courses. TSI status does not affect your admission to the University of North Texas. TSI affects students enrolling as first-time freshmen, transfer, or dual credit students.

TSI for New Students

If you are a new incoming freshman or transfer student, you can access the UNT Catalog to view policies and procedures for managing your TSI status here:

For information on exemption options, testing locations, study resources, and a checklist for completing TSI requirements before arriving on campus for orientation, click here.

TSI for Dual Credit Students

Students applying for dual credit enrollment at UNT must meet state-mandated TSI requirements through either a waiver or exemption. For more information, click here.
