Gabe Ignatow UNT portraitDr. Gabe Ignatow, professor of sociology and chair of the Department of Spanish, has been selected as UNT’s interim assistant vice provost for faculty success. His appointment begins June 1, 2025.

"I want to express my deepest gratitude to Dr. Angie Cartwright, who has held this role since its creation in 2022," says Dr. Holly Hutchins, vice provost for faculty success. "Her vision and leadership have been transformative for Faculty Success, and I look forward to continuing to partner with her as she begins her two-year appointment as the interim dean of the College of Education."

Dr. Ignatow is a sociological theorist with interests in digital research methods, cognitive social science, and globalization. He has participated in many Faculty Success initiatives since joining UNT in 2007, including the Academic Workload Initiative in 2023-2024 and the Faculty Leadership Fellows program in 2015-16 as an Academic Affairs Fellow. He was chosen for this role because of his care and expertise in faculty affairs, his experience in academic policy, and his sustained commitment to faculty development.

As the interim assistant vice provost for faculty success, Dr. Ignatow will oversee academic policy and the faculty mentoring program, continuing Faculty Success’s mission to support faculty in developing their professional community, capabilities, and career.
