The Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs is responsible for the academic mission of the University of North Texas, including teaching, research, and service. The office provides leadership in the following areas:

- Student Success
- University Centers and Institutes
- University Libraries
The Provost's Office also oversees academic administration — including the development and supervision of academic programs, curriculum changes, degrees, and academic organization — in conjunction with the deans and representatives of the faculty.
