About the Voluntary Separation Program

The University of North Texas (UNT) is committed to maintaining our strategic focus and to the long-term success of our students. This Voluntary Separation Program (VSP) allows the university to fulfill our commitments by aligning our budget, strategic goals, and priorities so we can enhance our educational mission and create enduring value for generations to come.

Eligible faculty members must have a minimum of 15 years of continuous service at UNT in a budgeted university position on or before August 31, 2026, and have one of the following types of appointment: tenured, administrator with a tenured appointment, or professional faculty with an appointment that extends beyond August 31, 2027.

Application Process

The request period for the VSP began Monday, February 23, 2026, and ended at 5 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2026.
