Now that you have been accepted, there are some things you need to take care of prior
to attending orientation, including the Texas Success Initiative (TSI). All incoming undergraduate students must prove TSI exemption or submit TSI Assessment
scores before they will be allowed to register for courses during orientation.
Follow the steps below so you’re all set for TSI!
Check your TSI status by logging into your MyUNT account! You can find your status under the UNT Advising & Orientation tile. Read more for checking TSI status instructions.
TSI Complete = you have met all TSI requirements and do not need to take any further action.
TSI Not Complete = you have missing TSI information in at least one area or you attempted the TSI Assessment and did not meet the minimum score on one or more sections
"No matching values were found" = this means our office does not have any scores or exemptions on file for you.
See exemption list and documentation needed here.
If you qualify for a TSI exemption for one or more areas, you will need to provide your documentation for evaluation. To submit your exemption, do one of the following:
If you do not qualify for exemption in one or both areas, you will need to submit TSI scores. See tiles below to guide you through submitting scores, preparing for and/or taking the TSI Assessment!
*fees may be due upon appointment booking. Fees vary by testing site.
UNT accepts all TSI scores - students are not required to be TSI complete to enroll at UNT. If your TSI scores do not meet benchmark requirements to be considered TSI complete, your TSI status may appear as 'incomplete' and your TSI hold will remain until orientation. Read more about benchmark TSI scores here.

'Incomplete' TSI scores are used for Math and English course placement. At orientation, you will be advised into TSI courses based on your scores and major. The hold will be removed prior to course registration.
While not required, you are welcome to retake the TSI Assessment. Remember to submit any new TSI scores!
