See exemption list and documentation needed here.
If you qualify for a TSI exemption for one or more areas, you will need to provide
your documentation for evaluation. To submit your exemption, do one of the following:
- Upload documentation to your MyUNT account via To Do List item.
- Submit documentation of exemption to TSI@unt.edu.
If you do not qualify for exemption in one or both areas, you will need to take the
TSI Assessment 2.0. There are several options for completing testing:
- Take the assessment with the UNT Testing Center. In-person and virtual appointment options available.
- Take the assessment in your area (i.e. local community college). Must inquire with
testing location of interest for availability.
- Take the assessment at home with a virtual proctor. Instructions will be sent via email provided from ACCUPLACER - be sure to check
spam/junk folders!
*fees may be due upon appointment booking. Fees vary by testing site.
PLEASE NOTE: All testing options require you to complete the quick Pre-Assessment Activity before testing. Complete it at https://practice.accuplacer.org/login.

If you have already taken the TSI Assessment, you can retrieve your score report from
ACCUPLACER's Student Portal. To submit your scores, do at least one of the following:
- Upload a copy of your score report to your MyUNT account via To Do List item.
- Submit a copy of your test scores to TSI@unt.edu. Make sure document includes: full name, date of birth and date of testing.
- Fill out the Score Retrieval Request form to give us permission to look up your scores.
*TSI scores are valid for 5 years from the testing date.
If your TSI scores are on your student account, but your TSI hold remains, your scores
do not meet benchmark requirements to be considered TSI complete. UNT accepts all
TSI scores - students are not required to be TSI complete to enroll at UNT. You can
verify if your scores are on your account in the 'TSI section' page of your TSI Status.
Your TSI hold will remain until orientation where you will be advised into TSI courses
based on your scores and major. The hold will be removed prior to course registration.
While not required, you are welcome to retake the TSI Assessment. Remember to submit any new TSI scores!
