COVID-19 Update: Communication with Students

March 14, 2020 — I know that each of you cares for our students and many of them are reaching out to you asking about the status of their classes. The university plans to issue a communication to every student on Thursday March 19th with the details about their entire schedule.  It is critical that you not respond with the plans for your specific class at this time. This is causing significant confusion among students who are hearing conflicting information. Our students need us to be in sync... Read more

March 11, 2020 — I am writing with information regarding UNT’s response to COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus. In recent days we have seen continued global spread of the coronavirus, with a presumptive case being reported in our region. With increased testing availability, we expect that confirmed cases of COVID-19 will grow in our region.  We care about the health and safety of our UNT community and I am asking for your assistance in the event we need to activate operational... International Travel

While there has been significant media coverage of the 2019-nCoV (novel coronavirus) outbreak in China’s Wuhan Province, the immediate health risk to the general U.S. public is low. However, for travel purposes, China is currently considered a high-risk destination because it is under a Level 3 Centers for Disease Control Travel Advisory.  We will do everything we can to keep our campus healthy and safe. As part of our efforts to ensure the safety of our university community, we require that... Read more

Thank you for your contributions during the 2018-19 academic year

Dear faculty and academic staff, Today, as our semester comes to a close, I would like to take a moment to reflect on this academic year and to thank each of you for all of your support in advancing UNT’s goals. While many of us have an achy hand from grading, or in my case tennis elbow from shaking so many hands during commencement ceremonies, it is a time of great celebration. The 2018-19 academic year has been a momentous one. It is our 100th anniversary of granting bachelor’s degrees. We... Read more
