Dear UNT Faculty and Staff,
It is my pleasure to announce, after a national search, Dr. Sian Brannon has been selected as university librarian and vice provost of UNT Libraries, effective July 1, 2025.
Dr. Brannon has served as interim university librarian since April 2025. An accomplished library administrator and longtime member of the UNT community, she is widely recognized for her transparent and collaborative leadership. She brings more than 25 years of experience in library services and administration, with significant strengths in strategic planning, project management, change leadership, and organizational development.
Since joining UNT in 2010, Dr. Brannon has led initiatives within the UNT Libraries to expand unique collections, increase employee retention, and improve the user experience to better support faculty and student research across disciplines. Beyond her leadership in the libraries, Dr. Brannon serves on numerous university committees, including the Department of Information Science Board of Advisors, the SACSCOC Reaffirmation Writing Team, and the Institutional Effectiveness Peer Review Committee.
I look forward to partnering with her as we continue to strengthen the UNT Libraries as one of our university’s most valuable resources for students, faculty, staff, and the communities we serve.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Brannon to her new role.
Sincerely,
Michael A. McPherson, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
