Greetings Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Sian Brannon has been selected as interim university librarian and vice provost of UNT Libraries, effective April 1, 2025.

Dr. Brannon has held numerous leadership roles since joining UNT in 2010, including assistant dean, associate dean, and senior associate dean (now senior associate university librarian). Before joining the Mean Green Family, she worked at the Denton Public Library, first as a librarian then as branch and technical services manager.

An experienced library administrator, Dr. Brannon is known across our university for her collaborative leadership style and comprehensive knowledge of best practices not only in the field of library science, but also in the management and oversight of library operations. I am confident that the strong relationships she’s cultivated at UNT and beyond will ensure a smooth leadership transition for our students, faculty, staff, and community partners.

The search for UNT’s new university librarian and vice provost for libraries is expected to commence in spring 2025.

In the meantime, I wish you all a joyful and restorative Winter Break and look forward to the great things we will accomplish together in the new year.

Sincerely,

Michael A. McPherson, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
