Dear Colleagues,
I am writing to share Dr. John Quintanilla will be returning to UNT faculty as a full-time professor this fall, following the conclusion of his two-year appointment as dean of the College of Science.
Under his leadership, the college expanded opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, advanced cutting-edge research, and led data-driven initiatives to help drive student success. I am deeply grateful for his dedication to our UNT community and the many ways he elevates UNT as a global leader in academic and research excellence.
Effective Sept. 1, 2025, Dr. Ed Dzialowski will serve as interim dean of the College of Science. Dr. Dzialowski currently serves as the college’s associate dean for research and graduate studies. As a professor of biology and animal physiology, Dr. Dzialowski's research interests include developmental physiology of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Kalamazoo College and his master’s and Ph.D. from Drexel University.
Please join me in thanking Dr. Quintanilla for his service and welcoming Dr. Dzialowski to the role.
Sincerely,
Michael A. McPherson, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
