Dear UNT Faculty and Staff,
I am writing to share the news that Diane Bruxvoort will be retiring as dean of UNT
Libraries in Spring 2025. Her last day at UNT will be March 31, 2025.
Dean Bruxvoort brought a wealth of experience and a passion for librarianship when
she joined UNT in 2018, having previously served as the University Librarian and Director
at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland and in library administration at both the
University of Florida and the University of Houston.
UNT’s Libraries flourished under Dean Bruxvoort’s leadership, expanding their global
impact and reinforcing our reputation as an industry leader in innovation and academic
excellence. The Libraries now house more than 6 million print and digital items; the
Portal to Texas History recently surpassed 2 million items and celebrated its 20th
anniversary; and in 2023, UNT became the 128th member of the prestigious Association
of Research Libraries.
As the most-utilized resource on our campus, the UNT Libraries are an invaluable asset
for students, faculty, staff and members of the surrounding community. Dean Bruxvoort’s
forward-thinking leadership has helped to make the Libraries a vibrant, leading-edge
resource that not only supports UNT’s teaching and research endeavors but also serves
as a hub for connection, collaboration and creativity.
Please join me in thanking Dean Bruxvoort for her dedication to UNT and for the many
ways her legacy will continue to shape the UNT Libraries.
Sincerely,
Michael A. McPherson, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
