Dear UNT Faculty and Staff,
As we near the end of the spring semester, I want to thank you all for your commitment to our students and the important work you do each day to strengthen our university community.
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Angie D. Cartwright, assistant vice provost for faculty success and professor of counseling and higher education, has been selected as the next interim dean for the UNT College of Education. Her two-year term begins June 1, 2025.
I want to express my deep gratitude to Dr. Rudi Thompson, associate vice president for Digital Strategy and Innovation and executive director of DSI CLEAR, who has served ably as the college’s interim dean since January 2024. Her insightful leadership steered the College of Education through unprecedented challenges, and she laid a strong foundation for its continued success.
Dr. Cartwright is currently the interim department chair of the Department of Teacher Education and Administration. Since joining UNT in 2015, she has led several innovative interdisciplinary research collaborations and has made invaluable contributions to student and faculty success. As assistant vice provost for faculty success, Dr. Cartwright has been responsible for revising and developing academic policy, supporting faculty programming and initiatives, and leading the UNT Faculty Mentoring Program. She is known across our university for her deep knowledge of UNT and her compassionate and authentic leadership.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Cartwright to this new role.
Sincerely,
Michael A. McPherson, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
