Research Majors

Now that you've done some self-exploration, it's time to research majors. UNT has over 100 majors for you to choose from and rather than having to learn about all of them, we have collected several helpful resources to help you match majors to your personality, skills, values, and interests.

Tools for Researching Majors

UNT Majors Activity - Consider this a bird's-eye-view of all the majors at UNT. Look at each major and put a line through the majors you know you are NOT interested in; leave the majors that interest you blank. Don't know what a major is? Don't scratch it out! Take some time to research; it could be the perfect major for you. At the end of this exercise you should have a much more manageable list of majors. Now, you can use the tools below to research your shortlist of majors.

UNT Pathways - This packet divides UNT's majors into six Major Pathways. This is a great resource if there is a general area of interest your major may fall into as you can research majors by their general field. Example: A general interest in public service.

UNT Catalog - The UNT Catalog is home to our complete list of majors, minors, and certificates. It will show you the requirements for each program as well as important prerequisite and course sequencing information. You can also read course descriptions for all UNT classes to get a better idea of which classes interest you.

Explore Majors with the Office of Advising Services - Attend an Exploring Majors Workshop or schedule a one-on-one advising appointment. We can assist you in talking through your major by providing information and insight. We look forward to working with you!
