Deadline for Fall 2015 Class Proposal Form for Emeritus College

UNT will continue to offer its highly successful Emeritus College classes in Fall 2015, and would like to invite faculty and qualified graduate students to participate. The Emeritus College is a non-credit program that offers classes specifically designed for adults 50 and older. The mission of the Emeritus College is to provide a broad range of educational activities and intellectual stimulation for faculty and the community.

They are now soliciting proposals for Fall 2015 (September – October). Classes will be held on the UNT campus (Mondays and Wednesdays), Robson Ranch (Tuesdays and Thursdays), and the TWU campus (primarily in November). To find out more about the Emeritus College, visit their website at visit http://call.unt.edu/emerituscollege.

Benefits to faculty who teach in the Emeritus College include:
•     Intellectual and community engagement
•     Faculty who enjoy teaching can continue to do so
•     Interaction with motivated learners with similar life experiences
•     Social, cultural and travel events specifically organized for older adults
•     Free Emeritus College classes
•     Free meal at Robson Ranch Wildhorse Grill

Classes have two formats: one-time lectures (60-90 minutes, with discussion) and seminars (60-90 minute lectures over two weeks).  If you would like to teach the seminar format, you could teach both sessions yourself or recruit others to help you teach the two sessions.  Classes are held weekdays during the day at either UNT or Robson Ranch.

Many Emeritus College faculty are retired, but others are active faculty or area professionals who are interested in sharing their expertise and love of a subject with a community of senior learners.  You could teach in your area of academic expertise, or you can offer classes in new subjects in which you have become interested. We have modeled our program after other nationally recognized lifelong learning programs which keep the costs low to the community, so we cannot offer payment to teachers. However, we can offer you free admission to any of the classes and social gatherings we offer during the semester you teach.

If you are interested in teaching, please use the Class Proposal Form and return it to Marilyn Wagner by June 1, 2015  for the Fall 2015 semester.
