Upcoming Events

The Fall Teaching Excellence Seminar will be held in the Gateway Ballroom on August 25 from 7:30 am to 12 pm.  The seminar is intended to educate and inform new instructors on UNT policies and best practices in teaching and learning.  It is a key first step for all new TAs and TFs, and all other UNT instructors are encouraged to attend.

UNT’s First Flight student orientation week culminates with New Student Convocation in the Coliseum at 4:15 on August 25.  This year we’ll be welcoming about 4,000 new students in a celebration lasting about 45 minutes. New Student Convocation marks an important milestone in the lives of our students, and it becomes all the more memorable when the faculty who will educate and mentor them are able to join.  Please consider joining us! Faculty members who are able to attend should enter through doors A or B and sit in section 104.  Faculty do not need to wear academic regalia to this event.  As a further encouragement to join us, two $500 travel grants will be awarded by raffle to faculty members who register for and attend this event, courtesy of the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs.  Click here to register.

Salute to Faculty Excellence Week will be September 19-23, with the awards dinner and celebration happening on September 22 at Apogee Stadium at 6:30.  Tickets for the dinner are $35 and you can click here to register.  For a complete listing of the week's activities, click here.

The Office for Faculty Success is thrilled to celebrate UNT's newly promoted and/or tenured faculty and librarians.  See the list of these 62 esteemed faculty members so that you can congratulate them as you see them around campus this fall. Also, please welcome our newest outstanding faculty members and librarians to UNT.  The list of 106 new UNT personnel can be found here.  We are so excited to have these wonderful individuals with us.

Did you know that UNT has an extensive mentoring program for new full-time faculty?

Research has indicated that high-quality mentoring can help early career faculty be productive and achieve greater degrees of job and personal satisfaction. At UNT, each new faculty member is paired with a senior colleague from within his or her unit. In addition, each new faculty member is part of an inter-disciplinary team made up of 10 to 12 new faculty members from units across campus. Each of these teams has three senior faculty mentors. Cross-disciplinary teams are intended to foster an environment of collaboration, to help our newest colleagues gain a sense of the broader campus culture, and to provide a safe venue for the sharing of challenges and opportunities. If you would be interested in serving as a mentor, or if you would like to know more about mentoring programs at UNT, please contact the Office for Faculty Success.
