Undergraduate Studies
Welcome to the new Web-home for undergraduate studies at UNT!
As Dean of Undergraduate Studies, I consider it my mission to work with the faculty of UNT to create a learning environment for undergraduate students built on community, creativity and the expectation of excellence. Over the past year, we have focused on ten key activities to cultivate undergraduate success. Together, these form the Student Academic Success Initiative (SASI).
- One Book – One Community Initiative
- Provision of Summer Faculty Fellowships to Support Engaged Learning
- Developing First Year Seminars
- Increasing Opportunities for Undergraduate Research Experiences
- Examination of Undergraduate Student Expectations
- Supporting Student Participation in Class (Interventionists)
- Providing a New System for Early Alerts Regarding Academic Progress
- Addressing Academic Integrity
- Developing a Student View of their Degree Plan
- Creation of a Standard Student Evaluation of Instruction
In addition to these ten new activities, we continue to invest our efforts in the Next Generation Course Redesign project, the Core Curriculum Revitalization, on improvements in academic advising, including the addition of a number of additional advisors, and the cultivation of a forum for faculty members with a passion for the early undergraduate education experience.
