Journalism Professor Wins Prestigious National Teaching Award

March 2018-  Sheri Broyles, Ph.D., professor for the Mayborn School of Journalism, learned March 7, 2018 that she is a recipient of the Scripps Howard Foundation Teacher of the Year Award. This national award “recognizes excellence in teaching in several areas, including innovative teaching practices, influence on curriculum, mentoring of students and faculty scholarship as it relates to teaching, leadership in educational activities and on-going industry engagement inside and outside the classroom.”

The Awards’ 65th competition will present $170,000 in prize money for work across 16 categories, including the Impact Award, which will honor the year’s best work from all winners. The awards will be presented on April 19, 2018, with a live show hosted by “60 Minutes” correspondent Lara Logan.
